My story

There is so much to say about Dune it’ll be hard to keep this succinct. When we got Dune we noticed he had a distended rectum and difficulty defecating. After many vet visits, he was diagnosed with atresia ani type I and underwent a procedure to improve his quality of life. Though he is still recovering and is a candidate for a touch up procedure, it’s clear the surgery has helped with his constipation and discomfort. Unlike his siblings, Dune didn’t get much of an acclimation period to us when he arrived as he was immediately whisked away to numerous vet appointments. You might think this would turn him sour, but it had the opposite effect! Dune has a never ending capacity for love and particularly craves human affection. There isn’t a shoulder he won’t curl onto for hours, purring, dozing, and content. Dune has impressed all members of his care team with his darling personality and soulful eyes. At the moment he still struggles to defecate properly and is quite small for his age, weighing as much as a 6 week old kitten. This teeny tiny guy is a champion and has overcome so much hardship in the first few months of his life. He’s looking for a home that understands he has challenges to face and is willing to work with him so that the next chapter of his life can be as joyful as possible. Whoever is compassionate enough to bring him home will quickly discover that they are the lucky ones - Dune is a one of a kind cat, with a heart so big it’s surprising that it fits in his dainty body.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dune, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
