Jaid is a sweet, affectionate dog and that is amazing because of what she endured before coming to DREAM. When she came to DREAM, her mouth was infected and had severe dental disease from years of neglect. Most of her teeth had 90+% bone loss and several pockets of had formed. Upon coming to DREAM, she's had dental to remove all those nasty rotten teeth and repair several fistulas. She is feeling much better and has no problem eating a soft diet. Her foster mama says she's a food hound who doesn't miss a meal! This beauty has a wonderful temperament-unless you’re a squirrel! She is always on watch for those fuzzy tailed, acorn loving squirrels keeping lookout from the window ready to sound the alarm with a bark, bark bark! She loves a good walk but will bark and make a run for anything small and furry that dares to cross her path. Jaid is looking for a home with a fence to pursue her squirrel hunting. She loves kiddos ages 8 and older. Jaid loves her foster fur brother and would like a home with another dog for companionship and to satisfy her desire for playtime. If you are interested in adopting Jaid, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Jaid's adoption fee is $400. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Jaid will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jaid, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
