My story

Hello, I'm Buckaroo! I'm an outgoing and happy cat with a heart (and coat) of gold. I am always so excited to see my human friends both new and old! I love being pet all over and will flop over to lean into your touch. I even enjoy being picked up, and will press my head and face into yours! I'll happily follow you around and spend all day with you. I'm also very interested in snacks, gazing out of windows, and taking naps in the sunshine. I'm not always into toys, but still have a fun-loving and silly personality. __________________________________________ This animal presented to the humane society with an old, severe gunshot would which had previously shattered his pelvis. Due to the way the hip fragments healed, his pelvic canal is now narrow and interferes with his ability to have a complete, formed bowel movement. He has been managed successfully by administering a stool softener, lactulose, which allows him to pass stool. He will require ongoing management under the adopters veterinarian, and likely life-long stool softeners, to allow him to defecate. Due to his injuries, he also has severe abnormalities in his right hip. While he currently walks well on the limb, it's likely that in the future he will require medical and/or surgical management. Surgical management would likely be an FHNE procedure, a salvage procedure that allows a "pseudojoint" to form, removing the pain.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Buckaroo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
