My story

Zadie is almost 9 years old, weighs about 45 lbs, and is basically the gold standard in human companionship. She spent the last 8 years as a beloved family dog and came to Broken Tail Rescue after said family had to move across the country and couldn’t bring her with them. Zadie’s ideal home? ✨ Dog-free ✨ Drama-free ✨ Full of humans who love to snuggle, go for walks, and appreciate a mature gal who’s still got pep in her step Dog compatibility? Let’s just say Zadie isn’t auditioning for a dog park membership. With some dogs in her neighborhood, she can sit calmly while you chat it up with the other human. Other dogs? Not so much. She’s fabulous with humans—adults, kids, neighbors, you name it. But Zadie wants to be your one and only and is looking for a dog-free home where she can soak up all the love. Zadie has a heart full of love, a tail that wags like it’s powered by joy, and years of loyal companionship to give. She doesn’t want to be around other dogs, but honestly, does your couch really have space for more than one queen anyway? Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
