My story

The prettiest Penny in the whole world is now available for adoption. She wants nothing more than to be your very best friend and companion, and she is hoping for a calm home environment where she can play with all the toys and share your snacks.Penny is a graduate of our Education Project for Inmates & Canines, a prison dog training program at the Idaho State Correctional Center. She has learned a variety of useful skills alongside her EPIC handlers. In addition to the basics, she also knows several cues that will help her family navigate real life moments with her. Our EPIC handlers and staff will happily hand over her entire resume to prospective adopters and gush about how smart Penny is -- she's such a fun pup to train!We estimate Penny to be 3 years and 8 months old. She's been through a few homes and facilities already, and because of that, she tends to stick close to trusted humans. Her very best friend is Alex, her Sr Handler, and she likes to be near him a lot. She'll work just fine with other people and happily greet her other friends, but if you'd looking for a sweetheart who will be your sidekick, Penny is the girl for you. She will do best in home that's relatively quiet and calm and with adults who are active and maybe a bit adventurous. This girl has energy to spare, but she appreciates feeling safe and secure in her own space.Penny would thrive in a home where she can be the only animal. She would do best with teenagers and adults -- and lots of fun toys to keep her entertained. Puzzles and plushies are the best, and she knows how to convince most people to start a game of fetch with her. She is also big fan of snack time with her handlers, who give her new veggies and fruits to try out each week. Bananas and carrots currently top her list.Ready to meet Penny?
