Age: 2–3 years old Breed: Shih Tzu-Mini Poodle Mix (non-shedding coat = no tumbleweeds of fur!) Weight: 25 lbs If you’ve ever wished Little Women had more tail wags and couch cuddles, meet Louisa May Alcott, a 25-pound heartthrob with a poetic soul, a flair for zoomies, and a great eye for finding the sunniest spot on the floor. She’s smart, sensitive, and stylish (hello, non-shedding curls!)—and she’s ready to write her next chapter with you. A Life Best Lived at a Gentle Pace Louisa grew up in a quiet, rural home—and that’s exactly what she’s looking for again. She thrives where life moves a little slower, the squirrels are plentiful, and the yard is her own. A peaceful home in a quiet suburb or countryside setting would be her dream—especially one with a fenced yard and some elbow room. Apartment life just isn’t her genre. A Day in the Life of Louisa May Alcott 6:30 AM – Rise and shine! Time for a potty break and a brisk walk or jog—yes, she’s athletic and loves an outdoor adventure. 7:45 AM – Breakfast is served (and she’s very polite about it). Workday – Louisa is an excellent WFH assistant. She lounges quietly nearby, ready to offer emotional support or a wagging tail during stressful Zoom calls. Afternoon – A stroll, a sniffari, or a neighborhood hike. She loves walks, but she’s still learning that not every dog she sees on leash is an enemy soldier. A confident, consistent handler will help her continue improving with calm direction and structure. Evening – Couch cuddles, a favorite stuffy, and burrowing into bed like the sophisticated lady she is. Nighttime – She sleeps peacefully through the night in her pen, right near her people. Separation Anxiety: A Work in Progress Louisa is deeply bonded to her people, and she’s not a fan of being left alone. She’s already made wonderful progress with crate training at night and can now settle quietly until morning. Daytime separation is still hard for her, and she’s not a good fit for someone who works outside the home all day. A patient adopter who works from home or can take her along will set her up for success. Social Scene & Supporting Cast Other Dogs? Yes—with the right introductions! Louisa lived long-term with two other dogs in a prior home, has done great at adoption events, and was once fostered alongside another dog. She thrives with kind, respectful canine companions and may enjoy having a co-star. Cats? She’s earned her feline diplomacy badge. Kids? Sweet and gentle—she’s been great with everyone from toddlers to teens. Squeaky toys? Obsessed. Paperback romance, meet plushy love story. Her Ideal Home A calm, structured environment with confident leadership A securely fenced yard for lounging and sniffing A work-from-home or stay-at-home person (she prefers her people nearby) A confident, dog-savvy adopter to support her leash skills Bonus: A dog sibling to show her the ropes and share the couch Why You’ll Love Louisa She’s got the emotional depth of Jo March, the grace of a ballroom dancer, and the loyalty of a lifelong pen pal. She’ll hike with you, nap beside you, and gently nudge your hand when it’s time for love. She’s not just looking for a home—she’s looking for her storybook ending. Adopt Louisa May Alcott, and you’ll never walk—or read—alone again.May 30, 2025, 5:30 pm
