My story

Dobby`s StoryFor days, she wandered the neighborhood—alone, frightened, wrapped in a tattered Christmas sweater that had long since lost its warmth. People saw her, but she kept her distance. She didn’t trust anyone. Maybe she’d been let down too many times before.When someone finally coaxed her to safety, she trembled and snapped, unsure if this was just another trick. The sweater came off, and underneath were mats so severe they had to be shaved away. Her little body told a story of neglect—not just in her coat, but in her spirit.We believe Dobby is a Chinese Crested mix: small in size but carrying a heavy burden. At first, she didn’t trust us either. She watched from a distance, choosing her corners carefully, trying to decide if we were different. So, we gave her space. We spoke softly. We waited.And slowly, she began to choose us.She’s found her favorite people here at the shelter, and we believe she’ll find her person in a new home too. With time, patience, and the gentleness she’s never known, Dobby will give her heart completely. She doesn’t need a home that expects instant affection. She needs someone willing to earn her trust—slowly and respectfully.Dobby also struggles to trust other dogs (and probably cats). We’re not sure why—something in her past, perhaps—but we do know she’ll need to be the only pet in the home. As for children: while we love kids, and we believe every child deserves a dog, sometimes it’s in everyone’s best interest that a dog not live with small children. Dobby tends to nip when she’s afraid, and she deserves a calm, understanding environment.She’s been lost, inside and out. Now she just needs someone to help her find her way home.
