My story

PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org) ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog: $595 ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 50 lbs +/- ESTIMATED AGE: Approx 13 weeks on May 28, 2025 KNOWN WITH DOGS: Bluey is a friendly boy and said to be great and playful with other dogs! KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not have info on his interactions with cats at this time, but can gather such info if needed. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Bluey is said to love people of all ages! KNOWN COMMANDS: We are not clear what, if any, commands Bluey knows yet. We are told he’s a smart boy who loves to please so we think he’ll train up quickly to become a star student! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: We are told he’s doing well with crate training but do not have a lot of into yet on housebreaking. We strongly suggest crate training for any new dog – and dogs of Bluey’s age usually do great with crate training and take to it quickly. KNOWN LIKES: Bluey LOVES people and wiggling his butt for pets and treats KNOWN DISLIKES: None know at this time ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Bluey came from a Doodle breeder and was not sold as a pup – so common these days – so the breeder wanted to give him up. So sad. But Bluey got lucky in that HT scooped him up and will ensure he gets only the best going forward. We are told his mother was an assistant to a blind human and has a wonderful, gentle temperament. Bluey is described as a HUGE LOVE! HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: - Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) - Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) - Best Paws Forward Training Program – HT adopters ONLY ***A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities ***BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.
