A 65-pound ball of energy, Ricky possesses a serious vertical and lightning speed despite his chunkiness. But like his namesake Ricky from The Trailer Park Boys, he sometimes does dumb things like falling off the couch or flipping over backwards while watching a treat held over his head. He loves to play tug, roll on his back in the grass and hold your hand with his big meaty paw. He somehow has the impression that he can comfortably fit in your lap. Although a danger to many household objects, he's gentle with stuffed toys that squeak. Ricky actually completed a two-week training course at Dog4Life in Bastrop, focused on impulse control and respect for others' personal space. He learned "sit," "place," "heel" and most of all the ability to pay attention to his human despite distractions. However, he needs owners who can commit to continuing his training regimen. To help with that, Dog4Life offers a free follow-up training session to Ricky and his eventual adopter! He's house-trained and crate-trained. Ricky loves every human he meets and seems very happy around other dogs, however in his enthusiasm he can be "too much" for some dogs at first. He shows a strong prey drive toward cats and should not be left alone with them. Because he's still very much a puppy at approximately 1.5 years and so full of energy, Ricky really needs a fenced yard to run in and would do best with active humans. He'd love to go hiking with you or learn to catch frisbees. Ricky's up for a friendly game of tug with you anytime!
