My story

Aussie is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix who was rescued from Miami-Dade County and brought to Big Dog Ranch in search of the loving forever home he truly deserves. He has a high energy level—playful and curious without being overwhelming. Aussie loves to run, chase toys, and splash in the water, but he’s also content to curl up at your feet or snuggle in for a quiet evening. His intelligent nature means he thrives on mental stimulation and would benefit from enrichment games, training sessions, and lots of positive interaction. Luckily, he's already housetrained and knows his basic commands, so he's well on his way to being a perfectly mannered companion. Aussie gets along well with other dogs, making him a great candidate for a multi-dog home. He would do best with an adopter who has previous dog experience—someone who understands the needs of a smart, sensitive breed mix like his. Being part Poodle, he is also considered hypoallergenic, which can be a huge plus for allergy sufferers. While Aussie is sweet and affectionate, he does experience minor separation anxiety and may feel stressed when left alone for long periods. A home where someone is often around or where he can gradually build confidence would be ideal. Due to his anxious nature, Aussie will thrive best in an adult-only home where the environment is calm, consistent, and understanding of his emotional needs .If you're looking for a loyal best friend who brings joy, affection, and a touch of adventure into your life, Aussie is ready and waiting for you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Aussie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
