My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 5/22/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Oreo was found as a stray in the middle of the road by a good citizen. When no one came forward he was surrendered to rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Oreo is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Our best guess is that Oreo may be a sheepadoodle. He was found as a stray so we have no idea and no history. Given this, we cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. He is 100% good boy. Weight: 42 lbs Height: 20 in at shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Oreo is a young male looking for a yard to run around in with his new bestie. What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Oreo! Though his name is common do not let it fool you. This is a one in a million pup. Oreo is a sweet and affection boy with an air for caution. Oreo is looking for a home with another dog to mentor him. He has shown an aptitude for play and loves to follow other dogs around and learn from them. Oreo loves to be around his people as well and dislikes when he is left out. For this reason, Oreo will not be suitable for an apartment or a townhome. Oreo is relaxed and calm when his humans are present but does become a little distraught and when they leave. We believe a furry companion will help to combat his sadness. He loves to sit at your feet when you are at a desk or computer.  Oreo walks well on a lead and is clean and comfortable in his crate. He does best on a routine schedule and therefore is looking for the same pace daily. A home with constant changes will not be ideal for him. He enjoys consistency. If Oreo's new home includes children he is looking for a quieter collected environment as loud noises and sudden movements are a little overwhelming for him right now. It is something he can get used to but he will need patience and guidance through this change. Oreo is a sucker for a soft bed and loves to sleep in them. We know he would love to get up on the couch with you and watch movies all night.  What is my personality like? Oreo is a gentle soul that, bonds quickly to people he trusts, and though he needs about 30mins to an hour to check you out he quickly becomes comfortable once that trust is made. Oreo builds sturdy bridges of trust and therefore needs someone who is going to give him 110% back. He loves to play with people and is learning how to play with bigger dogs. He has some manners to learn. He still a young man after all. He has thoroughly enjoyed the company of another standard and two GSD mixes here at the farm. He loves to run and is very fast and will give chase if other dogs play with him.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Oreo is a good judge of character and like most of us he prefers to first get a feel of the room. Oreo can take some time to warm up, but with a lot of baby talk and some patience Oreo is ready to follow you anywhere. Oreo will follow you to the worlds end once he knows you have his back. Loyal and dependent is Oreo's moto. Other tips and tidbits: Oreo was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition we estimate he's a year old. We celebrate his birthday 5/12/2024! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. May 29, 2025, 1:43 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oreo May 25, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
