Gus is an adorable, 50 pound terrier mix. This sweet boy's life was turned upside down when owner became too ill to care for him. Gus has lived in a couple of different homes since his surrender, and this has been a bit stressful for him. He seems to be a genuinely easy-going boy, but the stress of all the changes will require a patient home. Gus is currently living with a foster who has several dogs, and he does well with them. He can sometimes invade personal space and needs help with giving other animals more adjustment time. Gus has an odd way of playing and can be growly with bones and toys. Gus has never hurt another animal; but because he will protect toys, other dogs could challenge him for them. He is unsure of cats, and mostly he wants to follow them around, obsessively. If they stand their ground, he is learning to leave them alone. Gus can live in a home with kids and other pets, but he will need a home willing to be patient with his quirks. He is house and crate trained and very responsive to electronic collars, beeps/tones and leashes. Gus has only been improving during his time in foster care, he understands more and more every day. Gus walks pretty well on a leash but can get excited and pull a little. He enjoys sleeping on the couch or the bed and is currently learning to keep his paws off the counter. Gus gets excited meeting new people or going new places, and he can jump or whine. Giving him a treat and asking him to sit helps. Gus loves playing in running water and rubbing his face in the grass. He also enjoys squeaky toys, sour patch kids, popcorn and jerky treats. Gus knows how to sit and shake! Gus' adoption fee of $250 includes a microchip, vaccinations, and neuter surgery.
