My story

Ms Mary Monroe is a smart, sweet, active dog who would thrive as an agility or trick dog! She is super friendly with everyone she meets and thrives on canine enrichment games like fetch and dog puzzles. She’s about 1 year old, about 13 lb, and we think she’s a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix.  She has adjusted very well during her time in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and loves to go on adventures, though is still nervous of big trucks and loud noises. Mary’s very favorite fun time is when she’s let off leash at a private community garden, alone or playing with her foster siblings. She loves playing chase and running and can hurdle over a bench! She is obedient and comes back when called. Mary loves making friends with new people and pooches. She is learning “sit” and working on other obedience training.  Ms Monroe has an incredibly sweet disposition. She is outgoing and friendly without being pushy. She takes treats gently from both known folks and strangers she meets. She’s also great with other dogs and shares space and toys nicely. She also enjoys snuggling on the sofa, sleeps in bed with her foster human and her dogs amicably.  Mary is smart and making fast improvement with positive reinforcement. She is working on housetraining both on pee pads and outside and is almost there, as well as basic commands.  Her adoptive family will need to continue working with Mary to reinforce and advance the progress she's been making in leash walking. She hasn’t had any separation anxiety when left alone with lots of cognitive toys and things like kongs to keep her occupied. Mary is an exceptional little girl who is going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To adopt Mary, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2403968##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mary Monroe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
