My story

Hi there... my name is Shayna, and I’m a 3-year-old terrier mix with a chocolate and white coat and a heart that’s slowly learning to hope again. I weigh just 16 pounds, the perfect size to curl up in your lap or rest quietly by your side. I was found lost and brought to the shelter on 05/13/2025, and, well... it’s been a little overwhelming. I’m a sweet girl, but right now I’m just a bit scared. The world feels big and loud, and I’m still trying to find my footing again. But if you speak softly and move gently, you’ll see me melt into your kindness. I may be quiet, but I’m full of love waiting to bloom. I already sit when asked, and I’ve been spayed, fully vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworms—so I’m healthy and ready to go home whenever you are. If you have a little extra patience and a lot of love, I’d be the most loyal and gentle companion you could ask for. You can meet me at cage 324—just ask for ID 9968. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
