My story

Dreama was deserted by a breeder after a Good Samaritan was asked to care for her a couple of weeks in January. By May, the breeder informed the caretaker she wasn't coming back for them and to find the girls a home if she couldn't keep them. Luckily they contacted DREAM. Dreama is definitely a beauty but she is also very sweet and shy little girl not quite 3 years old. She will need an experienced adopter who has the time, dedication and patience to help this little one get to know the world. She is getting caught up on her vetting and will be getting a much needed dental. Dreama enjoys other small dogs and definitely needs another dog to help reassure her. Large dogs intimidate her. She is working on house training. She's very timid especially outside, and does not seem to have been socialized at all. She is being introduced to walking in a leash by her foster mom but it can be overwhelming for her so patience is the key. Dreama is going to need patience and reassurance to gain the confidence to be a normal dog, but she’s showing all the signs that she will. definitely get there. Loud noises startle Dreama-she tucks her tail, and runs. Because of this a fenced yard is a must. So if you have a quiet, adult household, with a fence and are looking for the opportunity to help a lovely canine become your soulmate, apply for Dreama today. If you are interested in adopting Dreama, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Dreama's adoption fee is $700. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Dreama will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dreama-Pending, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
