My story

Leah is a sweet and gentle 2-year-old Bulldog Terrier mix with a gorgeous light tan coat and warm, soulful brown eyes. She has an affectionate personality and absolutely adores everyone she meets—giving the best kisses and cuddles around! Leah is a snack lover who’s always up for a treat and enjoys short, sniffy strolls where she can explore the world at her own pace. When Leah arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. But don’t worry—this is a highly treatable condition, and the team at Anderson is ready to support her through recovery. They believe the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Leah to heal is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt Leah, the shelter’s clinic staff will guide you every step of the way, answering any questions and providing ongoing support. The treatment process typically spans about three months, with some simple at-home steps to ensure she stays safe and comfortable. A follow-up test at six months will help confirm her recovery. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates Leah will fully recover! Plus, Heartworm is only spread through mosquitoes, not between animals—so your current pets are safe.
