Meet Salt—Sweet as Tofu, Smart as a Whip! Hi there! My name’s Salt, but my foster parents call me Tofu—because I’m soft, sweet, and packed with personality. I’m a 6-month-old German Shepherd mix with a big heart and even bigger paws to grow into. People? Love them. Dogs? Even better! I’m a social butterfly who adores meeting new people, kids, and dogs. I currently live with a spunky Rat Terrier friend, but I’d love a canine sibling closer to my size who shares my love for playtime. Smart cookie alert! I’ve already mastered “sit,” “wait,” and “down,” and now I’m working on “touch.” I’m food-motivated, eager to please, and love learning new tricks—especially if treats or praise are involved! Curious AND respectful My first week in foster care? I outsmarted a hallway gate in five minutes flat. Now I get to hang out in the main part of the house, where I politely take in all the action. I don’t chew what I shouldn’t—just another reason I’m a total gem. What I’m looking for: I can be a little shy in new environments, so I’d thrive with a patient, loving family who’ll help me gain confidence at my own pace. I do best in familiar walking routes but enjoy sniffy adventures in new places, too! Potty training? I’m on it! I do well on a consistent schedule and use potty pads indoors just in case. I’m a fast learner and always trying my best. Bonus points: I’ve lived with dog-savvy cats and was calm and respectful—what can I say, I’m adaptable! But since I’ve got a little prey drive, a home without small critters like birds or rodents would be safest. Nighttime routine? Snuggles on the bed (until it gets too cozy), then a peaceful stretch-out on the floor. I sleep like a champ. If you love the intelligence and loyalty of a German Shepherd and are looking for a best friend who’s as sweet as she is sharp, I might be the pup for you. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.   The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota.
