Sailor is a 13 week old Shepherd mix with the perfect balance of energy, smarts, and sunshine-loving chill. He came to the rescue at just three weeks old along with his mom and siblings, and now this confident, curious pup is ready to find a home of his own! Sailor starts his day with some epic zoomies in the yard and breakfast before soaking up a little sun on the patio. After that, it’s nap time — and we mean hard nap time. He’s a champion sleeper and knows how to rest just as well as he plays. In the afternoons, he’s up for another walk around the yard or a round of backyard fetch, and by 9–10pm, he’s ready to call it a night. This pup is playful and energetic, but also surprisingly independent. While he loves human attention (belly rubs especially!), he’s not a shadow dog. He’ll happily settle in for a nap in another room on his own. He’s not a cuddler, but he's affectionate in his own way — confident, grounded, and sweet. Sailor gets along great with other dogs — he loved playing with a visiting Golden Retriever — and he’s wonderful with respectful kids (his 8-year-old foster sibling is his favorite soccer partner!). He’s even respectful of the resident cats, doing his best to win them over while avoiding eye contact when they hiss. We give him an A+ for effort and manners! He’s making good progress with housetraining and communicates with tiny whimpers when he needs to go. He’s crate-trained, though he may protest a bit at first — and if you leave him in an x-pen, well… let’s just say Sailor will find a way out. He’s clever, determined, and not afraid to explore! Sailor is very much in his teething phase and loves to chew, so chew toys are a must. He’s not a digger and only barks when left alone for a bit or when trying to charm the cats into a game. His ideal home? An active family or adopter who wants a smart, athletic companion. Sailor would love another dog buddy and maybe even a cat who’s open to friendship. He’s a quick learner, already mastering “sit” and potty commands, and with continued training, he’s going to be an amazing adult dog. Why adopt Sailor? He’s playful, brave, funny, and deeply sweet. He’ll dribble a soccer ball across the yard like a pro, flash you a goofy grin, and then crash in a sunbeam without a care in the world. Adopt Sailor — and let the adventures begin.
