My story

Mona Lisa is a laid-back, affectionate cat with a touch of sass and a strong love for food. She enjoys spending time with people - sometimes curling up in your lap, other times just settling nearby to keep you company. She`s calm, easygoing, and tends to follow you from room to room, always wanting to be part of the action. Mona Lisa doesn’t mind being picked up and will definitely speak up when it’s time for a treat. She`s the perfect mix of independent and cuddly, and would make a great companion in a quiet, loving home.Mona Lisa was transferred to Valley Humane on 3/2 from the East County Animal Shelter. She is a young adult (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years old) and weighs 12.6 pounds. She received a dental cleaning with 8 extractions on April 24th.Mona Lisa has Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. This is a poorly understood condition and is thought to be an extreme symptom of allergic skin disease where a solid grouping of inflammatory cells come together in a lump or solid structure. This pet had lesions on her lip and was treated medically with antibiotics. It is possible it could recur sometime in the future. If any lesions are noted, an exam should be scheduled with your veterinarian.Mona Lisa was diagnosed and is being treated for Hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is a hormonal disease in older cats, where the thyroid glands produce an excessive amount of thyroid hormone. Signs may include extreme weight loss, vomiting and diarrhea, elevated heart rate and cardiac issues, liver changes, among other signs. Medication will be life long and is given twice daily. A hyperthyroid panel should be checked annually while on medication.Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
