My story

Roxy’s journey hasn’t been the easiest, but this sweet soul has never stopped believing in second chances. She came into our care at the Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) on May 16, 2025, after being found as a stray in Gulfport. Though she had no collar or tags, we were hopeful when we discovered she was microchipped—but sadly, no one came to claim her. Now, Roxy’s looking for a forever family to give her the love she’s always deserved. When Roxy first arrived, she was scared, underweight, and missing patches of fur along her back. But thanks to our dedicated team, she’s come a long way! With a full belly, a cozy bed, and all the treats she can dream of, Roxy’s gentle spirit has truly begun to shine. This calm and well-mannered lady is a little shy at first, but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up. Once she knows she can trust you, her sweet personality blossoms. She loves her daily walks and explores the world with quiet curiosity. She walks beautifully on a leash and is always happy to make new friends—both human and canine! While she gets along with other dogs, we do recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone’s tails are wagging in harmony. Roxy would thrive in a laid-back home where she can enjoy peaceful days, snuggles, and the occasional adventure. Whether it’s a lazy Sunday nap or a stroll through the neighborhood, Roxy’s just happy to be by your side. She’s up-to-date on all her vaccines, fully vetted, and will be spayed upon adoption (if not already).
