My story

This happy, wiggly boy is full of love! Gerry came to us as a stray and has been nothing but joyful and affectionate since he arrived. With a constantly wagging tail and a body full of bounce, he’s the definition of puppy energy. Gerry is easy to leash, knows how to sit, and takes treats like a true gentleman. He LOVES people — greeting everyone with soft eyes, full-body wiggles, and a big heart. He’s also playful and shows interest in toys! Gerry would thrive with an active adopter who can match his enthusiasm and help guide his playful spirit with some basic training. If you’re looking for a goofy, loving companion to bring energy and smiles into your life, Gerry’s your guy! Meet Gerry at ACCT Philly any day between 10 am & 6 pm VIDEO: Gerry meets dog through fence https://youtu.be/t-5VyiIL0FU Gerry knows sit https://youtu.be/LHDu_1u8aCg Gerry https://youtu.be/2E5ICHaN1v8 BEHAVIOR Per volunteer 5/26- Gerry had a housetrained clip on his board and hadn’t been taken out yet this morning so he was eager to get out of his kennel. He allowed for easy leashing and true to the notes, held his pee in until the moment we stepped outside. Once he was finished, we went into the run with the most shade together. Gerry didn’t really want to play, but definitely sought and enjoyed affection from both handlers in the yard with him. Gerry LOVES his treats - once he realized they were in a fanny pack, he sat nicely and took them gently out of a palm and from fingers. Before we went back in, Gerry met another dog through the fence and remained interested with a wagging tail. He went back into his kennel without a problem. Gerry is a happy boy and ready for a new home where he can soak up love and of course treats. 05/24/2025 Day Trip notes: Jerry has a wonderful temperament IMO. Once we actually arrived at the park, he was able to regulate and focus quicker than I had expected. -He had a loose stool bowel movement when we arrived. -He was interested in staying near/with me. When I stopped, he stood with me with neutral body looking around. -A small off leash dog came at him barking and Jerry was redirected easily to move with me away from the dog. The dog followed us and growled at Jerry. Jerry looked back a few times but did not respond much. It was easy to just keep him moving away with me. The dog's owner eventually regained control of their dog. -Jerry is super lovable and eager to please. It was easy to bond with him and earn his trust. After a bit he did a kind of lean in hug and also gave gentle kisses. -Jerry was even able to do some impulse control work with me for taking treats gently and leave it! -We also did some reinforcing of the heal position using treats. He did great! He will pull towards what he is interested in, but is easy to redirect. -His body cues remained pretty neutral with everything he observed in the park. -Jerry was pretty wild in the car at first! But, he was so responsive to respecting my boundaries with some simple communication and on the ride home, even though he kind of amped up a little again in the car, he didn't once come into my space or put his paws on the dashboard. IMO Jerry just needs some basic obedience, impulse control work, and boundaries enforced/structure. There was a little friendly jumping into my space/at my face once he was comfy, but again, he was super responsive when I just set a boundary. He is very itchy and rolled his back on the seat cover of the car on the ride home. 05/24/2025 staff notes: Per staff that brought Gerry to playgroup: No issues whatsoever throughout. Low energy. 05/24/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Gerry was steerable at the gate and had good greetings. he was curious of all the dogs with a loose body but starting becoming assertive. he began necking with lots of grumbles and mounting the other dogs. 05/24/2025 volunteer notes: What a sweet boy! A little jumpy, pulls on leash, knows sit and takes treats gently. Likes to stay close to his human. No reaction to other dogs that passed by. A little mouthy when protecting toys he really likes. 5/24 Per volunteer: What a sweet boy! A little jumpy, pulls on leash, knows sit and takes treats gently. Likes to stay close to his human. No reaction to other dogs that passed by. A little mouthy when protecting toys he really likes. 05/23/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Gerry was in a side bank with a wagging tail and loose body. He had soft eyes and was super excited to come out. He was easy to leash and jumped out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately Does not like to return – needs some leash pressure HANDLING : In the room, Gerry was super wiggly, jumping all over me and whipping me with his wagging tail. He was super excitable and loose and wiggly with everyone, greeting with lots of loose body. He knows sit and took treats very gently. He has lots of puppy energy and could not sit still but came when called and allowed all handling. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS: Interest – takes possession 05/22/2025 staff notes, intake: dog was very loose and friendly, allowed leashing and walked well on leash, pulls slightly. Also allowed me to lift him into truck with no issue. He is very sweet ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
