Part Aussie, part Dachshund, all-around superstar. At just under 25 pounds, Penelope may be compact—but don’t let her size fool you. This girl brings the energy! She’s currently keeping up (and sometimes outplaying) her two 50-pound foster siblings, and she’s loving every minute of it. Zoomies? She’s got 'em. Wrestling? Bring it on. Mid-play cuddle break? Yes, please. Penelope is also crate trained, potty trained, and highly treat-motivated—especially when she’s feeling a little shy or unsure. Basically, toss her a snack and you’ve just made a best friend for life. She’s sweet, affectionate, and the kind of dog who’ll nudge your hand for pets, then happily curl up on a fluffy dog bed like a pro napper. And here's the coolest part: Penelope has the amazing ability to detect low blood sugar in diabetics. Yep, she’s got superhero senses hidden under that adorable face. Note that she does have a history of resource guarding, so Penelope would do best in a home without more vulnerable animal housemates under 15 pounds. Perhaps even better as an only dog. Looking for a playful, loving, slightly magical pup? Penelope’s your girl. Adopt Penelope – because where else are you going to find a snuggly snack-loving sidekick with built-in health alerts? If you are interested in finding out more about Penelope, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Penelope is being fostered in Worcester, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Penelope, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
