My story

Say hello to Maxim, a sweet ginger boy with soft, green eyes and big, gentle paws. This handsome guy loves being petted, whether it's head scratches or chin rubs. When he really trusts you, he’ll even let you rub his belly! He gives soft head-butts to show love and all he wants is a quiet, safe place to call his furrever home. Maxim was born on the street and was taken in by people when he was a kitten. Sadly, they did not neuter him and, when he grew up and started to smell like an unneutered boy, they kicked him out. He spent almost a year living outside — cold, hungry, and alone. By the time a kind rescuer found him in February, he was very skinny, had a painful leg wound, lice and ringworm. Still, even then, all he wanted was to be close to people.   Since then, Max has been relaxing in a foster home and receiving the care and love he always deserved. Maxim is FIV positive — a condition that doesn’t stop him from living a long, healthy life with just a little extra care and a low-stress environment.   Max would do best as the only cat in your home, but he can coexist peacefully with a calm, respectful feline friend. He’s a bit shy at first, but it doesn’t take long to earn his trust — a few gentle pets and some chicken or bone broth go a long way! He’s not a fan of being picked up, but once he feels safe, he’ll curl up in your lap all on his own.   Max has been through so much — rejection, loneliness, survival. But he still believes in love! He’s ready to give his heart to an adopter who will be patient and kind and give him all the love he deserves. Maxim is about 2 years old and healthy. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. He is FIV+/FeLV-, but FIV doesn’t slow him down one bit — it simply requires regular vet visits (like all cats should have!) and a nutritious diet to ensure he stays healthy. If you're interested in meeting this sweetie, fill out our application here:  https://brooklynanimalaction.org/adoption-forms/. Make sure you click on Maxim and identify CLAIRE as the RESCUER when you fill out the form! Thank you for considering a rescued angel! Every dime goes to save another homeless kitty on the street.
