My story

Deacon Jim is a large and handsome German Shepherd dog with an estimated birthdate of 11/05/2022. He came to the Mission after his prior caretaker became too frail to continue looking after him.  Deacon is a nice dog who is toilet trained, crate trained, walks on leash, and rides well in a car. He has lived in two homes before coming to the Mission and he has had a very loved life. He is presently quite scared and his largest challenge is his willingness to flee when he feels overwhelmed, so his new family will have to be highly committed to containing him and building trust for the first few weeks. We know this will be a challenge, but a temporary one, because he is more confident and collected in a regular home environment.  Deacon is good with other dogs, has not lived with cats, and is most well suited to a home with kids 10+ who have the ability to give him autonomy when he's stressed out.  Deacon comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.  His adoption fee is $200 and includes his leash, collar, ID tag, sample of his food, and his medical records.  To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.  ##2399184##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Deacon Jim, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
