***LOCAL ADOPTER NEEDED (within 50 miles of Apex, NC) - This dog still has to complete their heartworm treatment at our partner vet in Apex*** **Meet Johnny – the Big-Headed Gentleman with a Heart (and Head) of Gold!** Johnny is a 60-pound chocolatey mix of sweetness with caramel eyes and a head so big, it might have its own gravitational pull. Neutered and house-trained, Johnny is politely boycotting crates –once acclimated to familiar surroundings, he’s not chewed anything in protest. This mellow fellow is Heartworm positive, so he’s on the “cool walks only” plan – more on that later, keep reading. He strolls like a pro on a leash and won't be joining your morning jog—but he’ll be at the finish line cheering you on from the couch. He knows “sit,” offers his paw like a gentleman, and takes treats with all the grace of a ballroom dancer. Johnny’s the kind of dog who holds down the floor like it’s his job (he’s very committed), enjoys affection without being clingy, and when he is playful? Oh boy, he plays with his whole soul. Think jazz hands, but for dogs. He’s friendly and LOVES the resident dog but doesn’t rely on her for fun— she does offer calm, confidence and a healthy companionship for Johnny. Johnny has a soft spot for snacks and kind humans from age 1 to 80 (and beyond). Johnny's heartworm treatment (covered by Peak Lab Rescue’s vet in Apex) includes a sleepover in mid-June followed by 30 days of limited activity.
