Dennis has proven himself to be a truly special dog. He’s incredibly well-behaved—he doesn’t chew on things or get into mischief, and he’s wonderfully quiet (no barking or whining!). He’s crate trained, housebroken, and already knows basic commands like sit and stay. With his eagerness to please and love for treats, he’ll be a joy to train. Dennis is a 2.5 year old tripod—his back leg was amputated after an infection in his foot wouldn’t heal. His previous owners sadly couldn’t afford the surgery, so he was surrendered to a rural shelter where he received the care he needed. He recovered in a loving foster home and now takes a daily joint supplement and occasional pain meds, though he hasn’t needed them lately. Dennis has a mellow, gentle personality but still enjoys playtime and can be delightfully goofy. He pulls a little on the leash, but it’s manageable, and we’re confident he’ll learn to walk nicely with some guidance. He takes a few short walks a day, and he’s doing great—hopping over logs and exploring forest trails like a pro. He’s also showing signs of being a great companion to other animals and people. He’s already made friends with one of the cats in his foster home and seems interested in other dogs. We’ve been told he is great with other dogs. He’s been friendly with every person he’s met, including a 2-year-old child. This brave boy has already overcome so much and is ready to share his love and loyalty with a forever family. Could that be you? Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
