My story

Gia is a new intake that was surrendered by her owner (backyard breeder) due to fighting over food with her littermate. Her previous owner failed her in many ways. She spent her life outside with no vetting, no leash training, no collar and no human socialization. Gia is terrified of a slip lead and prefers not to be petted at this time. She will gently take treats out of your hand and does not resource guard her food when we feed her. We had a representative from a German Shepherd rescue evaluate her and she told us that not all hope is lost. Gia will need a foster home with another confident dog. Someone who can give her a quiet space away from the shelter and show her that not all humans are bad. Gia is heartworm negative.
