My story

Oh, Peaches N Cream—because apparently naming her “Velcro-Fluff McClingy” was too on the nose. At first, she will observe you like a royal spectating the peasants, cautiously calculating if you're worthy of her affection. Spoiler alert: if you have snacks, a soft voice, or the emotional availability of a golden retriever, you just might be. Your personal space? Gone. Your lap? Claimed. Your ability to move freely without stepping over 70 pounds of emotional support marshmallow? A distant memory. Peaches doesn’t just want love—she demands it, in the form of full-body snuggles, constant contact, and the unshakable belief that she’s pocket-sized. She’s not aloof—she’s calculating. She’s not clingy—she’s invested. And if you’re looking for a dog who’ll make you feel like the center of the universe (whether you asked for it or not), congratulations. Peaches has chosen you. Yep, a Chihuahua in a Pyrenees suit? That’s our girl. Peaches is a 5 year old, 70lb Golden Retriever mix—probably part Great Pyrenees, part professional cuddler, and part misunderstood house hippo. She came to us when her previous human could no longer care for her, and like any self-respecting queen suddenly displaced from her castle, she’s been adjusting to her new court with grace, sass, and a strong preference for being adored at all times. Oh, Peaches N Cream? She’s what we lovingly call a “selective socialite.” When it comes to other dogs, she’s not throwing any puppy parties. In fact, if your dog likes to get all up in everyone’s business, Peaches will absolutely RSVP "no". Think of her as the grumpy neighbor peeking through the blinds, muttering about the youth these days—she tolerates the presence of other dogs, sure, but if they invade her personal bubble, she’s not shy about voicing her disapproval. Peaches has absolutely zero interest in trying to keep up with the young whippersnappers bouncing around like caffeinated squirrels. She is a mature, independent woman who prefers the company of other calm, self-respecting dogs who understand the importance of personal space and not sticking their noses where they don’t belong—literally. Now cats? Total opposite story. She’s obsessed. Loves them. Follows them around like they’re celebrities and she’s their biggest fan. Gentle kisses, soft eyes, the whole bit. If cats ran for president, she’d be their campaign manager. As for tiny humans? The jury’s still out. We haven’t tested her with kids, but judging by her vibe, she’d probably be that elegant aunt who stands in the corner sipping wine and quietly judging the chaos instead of joining the dance party. New people? She’ll observe from afar with the grace and skepticism of someone deciding whether or not you’re worth her emotional investment. She’s not rude, just...discerning. You’ll have to earn your way into her inner circle, but once you’re in? Prepare to be smothered in 70 pounds of love and loyalty—with a side of judgmental stares for everyone else. Peaches n Cream’s energy level falls somewhere between a slightly overcaffeinated housecat and a goat that just woke up from a nap. She’s a comfortable 5 out of 10—enough pep to keep things interesting, but not so much that you need to enroll in CrossFit just to keep up with her. As a road trip buddy, Peaches is definitely the overexcited type. She loves the ride, but she loves you even more, which means she prefers the “personal space is a myth” approach, enthusiastically climbing into your lap like she’s auditioning for a job as your seatbelt. She loves a good ride, but unless you enjoy steering with a dog draped across your armrest, buckle her in. On a leash? Gold. Medal. Material. We’re talking Olympic-level strolling. She’s not dragging you like she’s reenacting the Iditarod, nor is she flopping on the sidewalk in protest. She walks like she’s training for a modeling gig—calm, confident, and probably silently judging your pace. Adventure or homebody? Why not both? Peaches is a go-with-the-flow kind of gal. She’s just as happy trotting alongside you on a trail as she is binge-watching literally anything from the couch, as long as she’s doing it with her person. You could be hiking or you could be watching squirrels from the window—she’s in either way. Temperament-wise, she’s the quiet observer in the corner who suddenly cracks a sarcastic joke and becomes your favorite. She’s a little reserved at first, but once she warms up, though, she reveals her quirky side, and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without her. Her favorite activities include light zoomies with her human, soaking up the quiet life, and napping like it’s a competitive sport. She’ll play, sure, but she’s not about that “constant stimulation” nonsense. Her vibe is more “Netflix and nap” than “fetch till you drop.” She doesn’t need a big yard or a fancy setup—she’s flexible. As long as she’s getting her walkies and some quality time with her people, she’s good. Apartment life? Suburbia? A hobbit hole? She’ll make it work. So if you’re looking for a chill, slightly odd, secretly hilarious dog who likes her humans more than literally everything else, Peaches n Cream might just be your soulmate—with fur. Peaches n Cream is potty trained—because of course she is. A lady of her caliber doesn’t do business just anywhere. She’s refined. Sophisticated. Peaches n Cream treats her kennel like it’s a five-star spa retreat. Seriously—she walks in, fluffs the metaphorical pillows, and settles down like she just booked herself a self-care staycation. No dramatics, no escape attempts, no tragic whining soundtracks. Peaches n Cream is a lady of manners—she’ll wait for an official invite to the couch like the polite "little" fluffy butt she is. But the moment you so much as pat the cushion? Game over. She transforms into a full-blown cuddle octopus, draped dramatically across your lap like she’s rehearsing for a canine soap opera. She's not subtle, she's not small, and she absolutely believes she is the moment. Hope you weren’t planning to move anytime soon. Peaches n Cream? Chew? Please. That’s peasant energy. She prefers to keep things classy—no shredded pillows, no mysteriously relocated socks, and definitely no surprise chewed up phone cords. Peaches n Cream isn’t much of a talker—unless she’s got something important to say to her fellow four-legged roommates. She's more of the “polite nod and carry on” type than the full-blown neighborhood news anchor. No constant commentary, no unnecessary alerts, and definitely no ghost reporting at 3 a.m. If you're ready for a pup who’s equal parts quirky, cuddly, and quietly judging the world from your couch, Peaches n Cream is your girl. But don’t just sit there scrolling—fill out that adoption app at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it her way and get things rolling! She’s currently perfecting the art of napping in Hutchinson, KS, and she’s waiting for her person to come scoop her up and spoil her like the royalty she clearly believes she is.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Peaches N Cream, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
