My story

PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect you to his foster! LOCATION: Foster home ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org) ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for this dog: $475 ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 25-35 pounds, perfect! ESTIMATED AGE: 13 years 4 months KNOWN WITH DOGS: Mildred loves other dogs and gains great comfort from them. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not have info on his interactions with cats at this time, but can gather such info if needed. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Mildred is shy and skittish and at her age would prefer a calm home without kids. KNOWN COMMANDS: No commands as yet, she is learning to be comfortable with life in a home. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Mildred is doing all her business in the fenced in yard, though on occasion she uses a pee pad at night. She does not like being crated and can be trusted free in the house. KNOWN LIKES: Snuggling up to and following dog siblings, comfortable couch spots, sniffing in the yard, TREATS. KNOWN DISLIKES: We are working on our shyness, but being held or touched can still be scary. ABOUT MILLIE (MILDRED): Millie is slowly gaining confidence with the help of dog siblings. She has fully taken to life in a home with comfortable dog beds and the couch to snooze on. She follows a dog sibling in and out of the yard to do her business and , in true beagle fashion with nose to the ground, can be observed happily exploring all the smells. This girl LOVES treats and will come up to her foster mom when one is held out. She recently found her beagle voice and will let foster mom know when preparing breakfast is taking too long, and can joyfully ‘talk’ to different outside noises. Millie is a shy, easily spooked, sweet senior girl who will continue to need time and patience to fully trust her human. She will provide you with her loyal company, snooze near you on the couch as you watch TV or read. This girl doesn’t ask for much, just a comfortable, safe, calm place where she can relax, take her many naps in between trips to the yard and some rolling in the sunny grass spots, along with a dog sibling or two. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: -Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) - Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) - Best Paws Forward Training Program – HT adopters ONLY ***A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities ***BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.
