Please contact Jodi Rosenberg (jodi.rosenberg@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is not marsupial! is sweet puppers! KOALA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!! Come meet Koala and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (June 1st) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305, USA)! Name: Koala Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 2.5 years as of March 2025 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 40 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Koala has politely greeted the resident cat and has initiated play. We are happy to discuss integration techniques. Currently Living At: DC area foster home Koala is Looking For: Romps in parks and world exploration by her new humans' side! This pretty girl is eager to burn off all that young-dog energy and make pup and people pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see what she likes best - ropes for tug? Squeaky plushies to chew on? Balls for fetch? Let's find out! And dog school, too, so she can show how super fast she learns. Most of all, though, she wants to know where her home is, to know she's safe and loved for all her days. In exchange, she promises whacking tail wags and loyal companionship and adoring gazes. What do you say? Does that sound like a fair trade to you? What My Foster Says About Me: Koala is sweet and full of love and loves to cuddle. She friendly with both people and dogs. She is doing well with house and crate training. She is working on her leash skills. Koala is food motivated and eager to please. Special Adoption Considerations: Koala was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. Koala has completed the treatment and activity restriction phase. She is awaiting her six month follow up test. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
