My story

Meet Rex – A Resilient Sweetheart with Extra Toes and Extra Love to Give Rex is a 6–7-year-old shorthaired gray kitty with striking green eyes, a round, expressive face, and a heart full of love. He’s been through a lot — FIP survivor, FIV positive, and polydactyl (extra toes!) — but you’d never know it from his laid-back, gentle personality. Rex is shy at first and may greet new people with his signature “airplane ears”, but once he’s comfortable, he enjoys being brushed and will gladly accept attention. He’s fantastic with other cats, dogs, and respectful kids, making him a great addition to a calm, loving home. He has a few tiny patches of missing fur around his shoulders from past FIP treatments — a small reminder of how strong and special he is. He also had one toe declawed after arriving in rescue, where a misgrown nail was causing discomfort. Now he’s healed and feeling great — and his extra toes make his little feet even more charming. Rex is FIV positive, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is not easily transmitted — it’s spread mainly through deep bite wounds, so FIV+ cats can live safely and peacefully with non-FIV cats, especially in a stable, friendly household. FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives with regular vet care and a good diet — just like any other cat. Rex is a chill, affectionate guy who just wants a cozy place to call home. After everything he’s overcome, he deserves nothing less than a lifetime of love and comfort. Adoption application can be found here-https://airtable.com/shrGSvgMTS3wUQn2H

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rex, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
