My story

Meet Maxine, a sweet 1-year-old, 43-pound shepherd mix with a gentle heart and a big desire to be loved. This lovely girl is doing great with crate training—she keeps her crate clean and sleeps through the night. While she may whine a little when first going in, she settles down quickly and sleeps peacefully. Maxine walks nicely on a leash and harness, and she absolutely loves being outside. But just as much, she adores attention and belly rubs. She’s still figuring out how to play and hasn’t quite mastered toys yet—she’ll give them a quick try, then come right back for affection. She doesn’t know formal commands yet, but she has excellent recall because, more than anything, she just wants to be near her people. Maxine is truly a lovebug who would thrive in a home where she can receive plenty of affection. She’s shown interest in the resident dog in her foster home and could do well with a canine companion, but she’d also be perfectly happy as the only dog soaking up all the love. Because of her size and energy level, a home with children aged 8 and older is recommended. The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family.
