**New notes and video 5/18!** Fable is a sweet pup who is slowly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. She may be shy at first, moving with caution, but with gentle encouragement and a calm presence, Fable begins to show her soft, loving side. Her tail gives little wags of hope, and her eyes light up when she feels safe. Though nervous on leash and unsure of new environments, Fable is incredibly people-focused. She seeks comfort from her handler, often trying to crawl into your lap for reassurance and love. She accepts gentle pets all over and even shares sweet kisses when she’s feeling brave. Fable also warms up to new faces, greeting them with sniffs and allowing soft affection. Fable isn’t interested in toys yet and prefers peanut butter over typical treats, but with time, patience, and a loving home, her personality is sure to blossom. She’s ready to be someone’s loyal companion—she just needs someone to believe in her. Come meet Fable at ACCT Philly any day between 10 am & 6 pm, and help her write the happy ending she deserves. It wasn't very difficult leashing her, she was very forward and sticking her head through the door of kennel. She does take a bit to walk through kennel due to shyness, and occasionally stops briefly to sniff around. Outside, Fable & Pablo immediately got along with loose & wiggly body language, and licked each others' faces! She opened up with him & allowed him to sniff her all over, and they were both getting into a playful mood. We let them play briefly and she did attempt to mount Pablo twice, which he did not like. Afterwards, she allowed all-over handling when I pet her. She was a little slow walking back through kennels again, and hesitated slightly to get back into kennel, but hopped back in by herself with no pressure or issue. 05/16/2025: Volunteer Notes: I took Fable out for a quick pee before leaving for the day. She was still hesitant to leave the kennel but with some encouragement she hoped out. She still showed signs of being nervous but this time around, she had low to mid level tail wags the entire time. She was able to walk outside with just a bit of hesitancy at thresholds. She returned to her kennel with no issue. 05/16/2025 volunteer notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: When I approached the kennel, Fable was sitting in the back of the kennel. I called for her and she came up. Her ears were back and her eyes wide. Her tail was tucked. I put the leash in for her to sniff and was able to easily slip it over her head. I opened the door and used some leash pressure to encourage her to come out. She was very hesitant to step out of the kennel. I used some baby talk and offered a treat. She didn’t eat it. I continued to encourage her and eventually she stepped out. LEASH: Fable is very fearful on leash. Needs leash pressure to encourage movement. No pulling. HANDLING: Fable showed lots of signs of being very nervous. She her back legs were shaking and she was staying low to the ground with her tail tucked and ears back. I took her through the hallway into the volunteer office. She continued to shake with a stiff body. She panted on and off with tight lips. Her eyes and nose were red. Fable seemed handler focused and seeking comfort. She would attempt to crawl into the handlers lap. She accepted pets all over and gave some licks to the handler. She did greet new people entering the office sniffing them and allowing pets. Fable with give some low tail wags while interacting with people. She was not interested in regular treats but ate some peanut butter and squeeze cheese. She returned to the kennel with no issue. PLAY & TOYS: No interest. 05/16/2025 finder described her as “ Shy, scared, Quiet” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
