My story

How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by a community member on May 1, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Filip! Filip is a sweet and sensitive boy who's come a long way since arriving at the shelter. Initially very fearful and shut down, he's slowly blossomed with the help of patient staff, high-value treats, and compassionate care. Though still wary of unfamiliar people and new environments, Filip warms up beautifully once he feels safe. He'll gently take treats from your hand, offer soft tail wags, and even seek out affection-especially if you kneel down and speak to him softly.Filip walks well on leash, though he can be easily startled by sudden movements or noises, especially on busy streets. A recent fitting with a martingale collar has helped provide more support on walks, and he responds well to gentle encouragement. He's very food-motivated, which makes building trust and teaching new behaviors easier. During a walk, Filip even approached unfamiliar staff members after some gentle encouragement and treat tossing, showing how far he's come in overcoming his fears.Filip would thrive in a calm, patient home with older children (8+) who can read and respect his body language. He will need time to decompress and adjust at his own pace, but with love and consistency, he has the potential to be a deeply loyal companion. If you're looking for a quiet, soulful dog who just needs a little extra time and understanding, Filip may be your perfect match. Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 12.7

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Filip, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
