Meet Archibald — Your New Gentle Giant At 6 years old and 56 pounds of pure love, Archibald is the definition of a gentle soul. With his big smooshy head and even bigger heart, he’s looking for a cozy forever home where he can be your loyal sidekick and cuddle companion. Archibald is a laid-back loverboy who’s as easygoing as they come. He walks like a dream on leash—no pulling, just polite strolls while staying close and checking in with you like the sweet, soulful gentleman he is. He’s a breeze to take out of his kennel and shows no reactivity toward other dogs. This boy has his manners down. He greets everyone with a happy wag and no jumping, does his business outside right away, and is calm and polite indoors. He’s also super treat-motivated (and a fan of snuggles), already knows “sit,” and while he might bounce up in excitement, he’s easily redirected with a kind word or snack. Archibald loves to play, especially when it involves chasing a toy with the cutest little leaps and bounds—but he’s much more about you than the toys. His favorite place? Right next to you in the car, head resting on your shoulder or gazing out the windshield like a road trip pro. This affectionate, mellow boy doesn’t ask for much—just a comfy spot to rest, a few treats, and someone to love. Could you be his person? Archibald is ready to meet his new family. Come fall in love. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
