Meet Sasha Jane! 11-year-old Sasha and her sister, 14-year-old Pica, were brought to a veterinary clinic by their owner, who requested that they be euthanized. He was being stationed overseas and said he couldn’t find anyone to care for them. Thankfully, the clinic staff refused to end the lives of these healthy senior girls. Instead, they offered to take them in and allow the owner to surrender them. One compassionate staff member reached out to us—and that’s how Sasha and Pica became Frosted Faces on May 16th! We have had many bonded pairs at FFF before, but Pica and Sasha are next level loving and loyal. The way they play and look for each other melts our hearts! Pica and Sasha enjoy going on our weekly FFF group hikes, and volunteers report that they are fun walking companions. Older sister Pica has the cutest little tippy-tappy walk, while Sasha is a bit more spry and will gladly lead the way. Then Sasha will run back to Pica to make sure she’s okay and keeping up. It's so sweet! The girls have even gone paddle boarding together, and Sasha jumped into the water just to swim over to the board her sister was on! Pica and Sasha went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what they are like in a home. Here's the scoop: "We absolutely loved spending time with Sasha and Pica! They are the sweetest little girls who love to be cuddled. They did amazing being around children of all ages from toddlers to preteens, so patient and gentle! Pica is very polite, loves her food, and is the queen of pets. She will put herself under your hand to ask for more pets if you stop petting her. She loves to go for walks and would take about a mile long walk at Morley Field in Balboa every other day and did amazing. While not walking or getting pets, Pica is a sleeping champ. She is delightful and so cute. Sasha is as energetic and inquisitive as a youngster! She is very smart and takes to training very well. She would do great as an agility dog and would thrive in a house that has a fenced yard where she can frolic around (but also did fine without one, so don't let that deter you). Sasha is generally very polite and respects boundaries around rooms that she can go in, but you got to keep an eye on her when she's around food -- sometimes, she just can't resist an extra close sniff! Sasha and Pica get excited to greet you when you come home or when they see you first thing in the morning. They display no separation anxiety behaviors if you leave them home or sleep in a different room. They do great around other dogs, and seem to have no problems with cats. The girls are house-trained and only had one small accident on the first day when we didn't take them out before we left the house. After that, no accidents at all, and they had no trouble waiting 9ish hours through the night. Sasha and Pica let you know they need to go out by sitting by the door."
