My story

Meet our handsome Leonardo! This 1–3-year-old, 15–20 lb Chihuahua/Dachshund mix made his way from Mexico and has now settled into city life like a true New Yorker. Once a nervous little guy, Leo for short- has blossomed into a confident, curious companion who’s full of personality and charm. Leo is a natural explorer and absolutely loves his walks. Whether he’s strolling along the waterfront, checking out new neighborhoods, or joining you at a sidewalk café or wine bar, Leo is always ready to be your sidekick. He has beautiful leash manners—walking with a prance and purpose, like he’s on a mission (or a runway!). One of his signature moves is rolling on every store rug he finds, entertaining shop-goers and charming everyone he meets. Though a bit bashful at first, Leo now enjoys meeting new people and dogs alike. He’ll calmly greet passersby and say hello to other pups, though he’s not afraid to bark back if one gets a little rude—he’s got New York spirit! Leo is full of quirky expressions—like his signature raised eyebrow and big, curious eyes—that’ll keep you smiling. At home, Leo is mellow, cuddly, and playful. He loves cozy blankets, tasty snacks, and playtime with his foster dog sister. He’s quiet and well-behaved indoors. Leo is a quick learner who responds well to guidance and thrives with reassurance. He’s only lived with other dogs, but he may also enjoy soaking up all the attention as a solo pup. In a new home, he may be shy at first, but with patience and love, he’ll show you just how affectionate and devoted he can be. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, and soulful little sidekick, Leo might just be your perfect match. Leo has not been cat tested - though with proper introductions we believe he would be fine. Leo would do best with older children who understand dog’s boundaries. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, and Lepto. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply for Leo, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2336137##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Leonardo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
