My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frida has been cleared by the vet and will require no further treatment or surgery!  Yay! Frida is a healthy, spunky kitten! Frida is now accepting applications.  If you are interested submit an app here on our website and/or contact her foster mom: wandagarcia16@gmail.com   Frida and her brother Neko were found in a field when they were about 4 weeks old and brought to our fosters at an adoption event.  Their foster mom took them in with open arms. At home Neko did very well eating on his own and was a normal playful kitten. But little Frida was struggling to eat and she was congested. Foster mom saw that her nose was slighlty deformed causing the opening in the right nostril to be compromised. Frida was congested and her little nostrils were blocked from mucus and food particles. Little Frida had a hard time eating and wouldn't eat a lot of the time.  Cats won't eat when they can't smell and it seemed Frida had no appetite. Frida had to be force fed and taken to the vet. She had pneumonia. The vet cleared her nostrils as best he could and put her on antibiotics. During her visit it was discovered she had a larvae (possibly a botfly) came out of her nostril.  This is what we believ cause her deformity.  Foster mom continued therapy at home. In the first few weeks it was a struggle with keeping her nostrils clear and there were times she thought Frida wouldn't make it. It was an up and down emotional rollercoaster to clear up her congestion, her weight loss/gain and to find the food she liked best. We also prayed a lot for her to feel better and be healthy. But little Frida is a fighter and is now doing great with eating and has gained weight. She is playful and happy as kittens should be! She and her brother are best friends. Though Neeko is much bigger than she is, she keeps up with him. They play well together and cuddle all the time.  Now that she has grown to a healthy weight and is stable, the vet recommends further exams and xrays to rule out polyps or other obstructions that would require surgery. We are hopeful she will not need surgery, but we want to be sure she will be able breath normally as she grows and be cleared for adoption! We don't know the total estimate yet, but the exams, cultures and xrays are estimated at $500-$600, but could be less. If surgery is needed of course it will be much higher. We will get Frida spayed at that time also. If you would like to donate to her care and/or Sponsor Frida financially, please submit the form online and/or contact her foster mom Wanda : wandagarcia16@gmail.com     www.cattailcorneradoptions.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 22, 2025, 4:54 pm
