My story

SARGE is a resilient 3-year-old tabby who has endured more in his short life than many can imagine. When his Pueblo owner moved away, Sarge was left behind to fend for himself. He spent almost every day of his 3 yrs trying to survive.  He sought refuge in a feral cat colony, but instead of finding solace, he faced bullying from other cats. Thankfully, a compassionate colony manager noticed his plight and helped bring him to us. Sarge was withdrawn and broken. He was so used to being beat up by other cats that he is leery of them now.  He’s not aggressive in the least; he keeps to himself.   It’s obvious he was a victim, not an aggressor.  He is also hand shy, likely from having been hit by humans.  He’s beginning to trust again. He’s not big on being picked up but he loves being brushed and petted, and kisses on the forehead.  He hasn’t forgotten the days he went without food. When his wet food dish is put down, he makes a frantic rush to the dish and gobbles down his food. He’s not food aggressive; he just rushes over to eat quickly before anyone else can take it from him.  His 2 favorite things are being brushed and eating wet food.  Currently settling into the Cat Adoption Center at Chow Down in Evergreen.  Be sure to complete a cat application at www.eapl.com.  After being approved for adoption, you can take home the cat best suited to you.May 15, 2025, 1:54 pm
