My story

Meet Poptart – a 7-month-old snack enthusiast with a flair for dramatic hissing and a heart that’s slowly starting to melt. He’s still learning that humans aren’t as scary as they seem, but with every crunchy Temptation, he’s one step closer to believing it.Poptart is the king of hidey spots—he loves a cozy nook where he can observe the world from a safe distance. But don’t let his shyness fool you. This curious guy is always watching, quietly taking everything in. And if you rattle a treat bag? He’ll be out faster than you can say “breakfast.”While he still puts on his tough guy act (complete with harmless hisses), Poptart doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He just needs a patient, understanding human who’s fluent in the language of snacks and slow blinking. With time and a steady supply of Temptations, he’s going to blossom into a loyal, loving companion.He does well with other cats, would likely be okay with a calm dog, and would prefer a home with older kids (5+) who understand that trust takes time. Due to limited volunteer power, applications submitted for cats or kittens no longer available will not be reviewed. About Ten Lives:Ten Lives Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization located in Rhode Island. Our foster-based program is 100% volunteer-powered. We do not have a facility or shelter with regular visiting hours. Out of respect for the time, privacy, and safety of our foster families, we require an approved adoption application before scheduling a meet and greet with a foster cat. Our goal is to place cats in their best-matched homes and facilitate lifelong adoptions. We do not review applications on a first-come, first-serve basis. We believe that veterinary care is an important part of cat guardianship. As such, a veterinary check is part of our adoption process. Our goal is to contact applicants within 96 business hours of receiving their application. During kitten season, wait times may be longer due to the influx of applications. We are all volunteers and kindly ask for your patience! All Ten Lives cats are spayed or neutered, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLv and parasites, dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. These services are inclusive of the adoption fee.
