My story

Meet Joah! Joah is a bundle of sweetness who’s equal parts silly, snuggly, and sensitive. He may start off a little shy, but once he trusts you, he’ll be your most loyal shadow, following you from room to room and pressing his head into you when he’s ready for a hug. Joah is a world-class snuggler—nothing makes him happier than curling up beside you in bed or watching a movie together. He’s also known to sneak off with a sock or two (it’s his favourite party trick!) and gets the cutest zoomies after doing his business outside. Bonus points if you call him “Kiki,” he tilts his head every time! While Joah enjoys his plush toys and turkey treats, his greatest joy is simply being with his human. He has a soft, gentle nature and a heart full of love. Though he’s great at giving kisses now (thanks to learning from his foster dog buddy), he’s still working on building independence. Joah struggles with separation anxiety and finds it hard to settle alone, but he’s making steady progress and does well sleeping in his crate next to you. Joah is crate-trained at night and is getting the hang of house training. He’s also learning commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “into bed” (which means bedtime, mealtime, or crate time!). He’s leash-trained and calm on walks, just slightly nervous around loud trucks or big vehicles, but nothing unmanageable. Socially, Joah has done well with small dogs during on-leash greetings and has even met respectful kids with ease. Joah has shown some guarding of shared spaces like couches or beds, but with slow introductions, clear boundaries and structure, he can coexist peacefully with another dog. He hasn’t shown much interest in cats or small animals and doesn't react to them on walks. Joah is a city pup through and through; he's totally fine with the bustle of downtown life, people, and traffic. Oddly enough, while he loves public transit, he really doesn’t like cars—they stress him out, and he’ll need a family that understands his signals (panting, drooling, pacing) and can help support him through his discomfort. His ideal home would be a quiet, loving household with a family who’s home often, understands dog body language, and is willing to support him through separation anxiety and car-related fears. While Joah could thrive as a solo dog, he may also do well with a calm, respectful canine companion. He'd do great in an apartment or condo and would love nothing more than to be your constant sidekick. Joah is truly a one-of-a-kind boy. Think Olaf from Frozen, a little goofy, incredibly lovable, and always ready for a warm hug. He’ll melt your heart with his silly habits and soulful eyes. Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Joah? Apply Now! https://newcollar.co/apply-to-adopt

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Joah, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
