Dipsy Doodle ACCT-A-220262 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Dipsy Doodle must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, EXPERIENCED FOSTER, or ADOPTER by WEDNESDAY JUNE 11TH at 10AM. Should Dipsy Doodle's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Dipsy Doodle arrived at ACCT Philly on May 14th after being found alone early that morning. The finder noted she was sweet but scared, and gently walked on leash despite her fear. Shelter life has been overwhelming for sweet Dipsy Doodle. It’s loud, confusing, and full of unfamiliar sights and sounds. She’s doing her best to be brave, and every day, she shows us more of the kind, sensitive girl she truly is. At first, Dipsy may hesitate—she’s not sure what to expect in her new surroundings. But with patience and a gentle approach, she builds trust quickly and begins to lean into affection. Outside, she walks slowly and carefully on leash, always keeping her steps soft and steady. She enjoys quiet moments in the yard, checking in for pets, then exploring at her own pace. She’s tolerant of other dogs passing by, but mostly keeps to herself. Dipsey isn’t ready to chase toys or bounce into play just yet. What she really needs is someone who will meet her where she is—with kindness, patience, and a whole lot of love. This sweet girl would do best in a calm, adult-only home. She may be fearful now, but she has so much potential to blossom in a calm, loving home. Per volunteer 5/21: Dipsey is a sweet gentle girl who is an intimidated by the shelter environment. She was a little hesitant to approach her walker in the kennel but eventually built up the courage and warmed up quickly to affection. Once in the yard she was content to wander a bit and check in for pets, and didn’t seem to interested in other dogs that passed by. She was open to all handling, good on a leash, and returned to her kennel without issue. Such a cutie. Per staff 5/21: Scared but a sweet girl! Per volunteer 5/19: Housetrained, so mellow, sweet. Per staff 5/18: Took out for a walk yesterday and today. Both times remained soft, timid, tolerant, and excellent on leash. Looped easily, easy exit, slow and gentle on leash, hopped back into kennel. Both times peed for at least ~10 seconds immediately once outside. Per volunteer 5/16: Was very tolerant of me petting her but she just stood still. Per staff 5/16: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Dipsy D was laying down in her kennel with wide scared eyes and remained very still. The handler was able to reach in and leash her without an issue as she very slowly walked out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally – fearful, walks very very slowly. Let me pick her up and bring her back to kennel HANDLING : In the room, Dipsy Doodle was stuck in place. She was so shut down and fearful, allowing me to do whatever to her as she remained “stuck” in her one spot. She never moved and would pivot her head around to look where I was moving. She showed no interest in treats, her nose not even moving to sniff the treats. She was so shut down and fearful, the most she would do is shake. This poor girl needs lots of time and patience to adjust. PLAY: No interest. TOYS: No interest. Per staff 5/16, playgroup: Dipsy was not steerable, stared off past the gate and was very still. she did not move a muscle and showed no interest in anything. she remained aloof the whole time she was in the yard and kept her place while she only pivoted her head once and awhile. Per staff 5/15: She did ok for her intake. She does do a very hard and direct stare but once the muzzle was placed she went into freeze mode. Per finder: Sweet but scared, very good on leash just scared, friendly. MEDICAL: On 6/6, Dipsy Doodle was prescribed a course of azithromycin as her URI had not yet resolved. Per staff 6/5 PM: Mentation: QAR Appetite: Normal Respiratory Rate: 24 Effort: Normal Medication Administration: Ate in cheese Per staff 6/4 PM: Mentation: BAR Appetite: Normal Respiratory Rate: 24 Effort: Normal Medication Administration: Ate in cheese. On 5/22, Dipsy Doodle was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested positive for pneumovirus, but has since retested negative. 5/20 Vet Exam: Subjective: Liquid diarrhea noted for several days. Parvo test negative 5/16 and 5/19.
