My story

Wilma is a shy girl who was found as a stray and is looking for a patient, loving home to help her feel safe and confident. When you first meet her, she may seem nervous and cautious, but she warms up with gentle reassurance and time. She’s very sweet and curious, showing soft wags and gentle sniffs as she gets to know new people. Though she’s not quite ready for play or toys yet, she’s affectionate and seeks comfort, often staying close to her person for security. Wilma would thrive in a calm environment with someone who understands her need for patience and gentle encouragement. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to help blossom with love, Wilma could be the pup for you! Meet her at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10 am to 6 pm BEHAVIOR: 05/15/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Nervous, tolerant, avoidant, not steerable, fearful, over corrects, doesn't like being mounted 05/15/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Wilma was laying down in her crate with neutral eyes and body. She allowed me to reach in and easily leash her. She came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally – lowered body, fearful on leash HANDLING : In the room, Wilma was very nervous and kept a low to tucked tail. She did a lot of shake offs and paced around the room for a bit. She seemed to be warming up with time but someone would pass by and she would begin shaking. This cycle continued every time she saw someone pass the door. She sought lots of comfort from me, running near my legs or under the bench. She allowed all handling and was very gentle with me, sniffing me curiously with low wags. She is just a very shy and anxious girl that needs patience to warm up. A child approached her and she was curious with low wags and sweet sniffs. She was nervous but tolerant of the kid. PLAY: no interest -- too nervous TOYS: sniffed but no possession ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Wilma, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
