My story

Hi, I’m Smokey! My foster mom says I’m irresistibly cute—partly because one of my ears stands tall while the other flops over like it’s not sure what it’s doing (we think it’s my signature look). I’m a well-rounded pup who loves to play tug-of-war with my 60-pound foster sisters and then turn right around and curl up in your lap for a nap while you work. I L-O-V-E playing with toys, and somehow I already know how to fetch the ball and bring it right back to you. My foster mom says that means I’m a smart cookie—guess I agree! Every day, I’m getting better with potty training, which is pretty impressive considering I used to live outside. I don’t totally love being alone in a crate, but I’m getting better every day. My foster mom found that putting a playpen in the room instead of a crate works like a charm—I’ll relax in there all day and sleep in it right next to the bed at night without making a peep. I’m learning so much from my older foster siblings, and I follow my foster mom everywhere because I just really love being near her. I’d fit right in with other dogs who’d like a playful little brother—or I’d happily soak up all the love as your one and only. I can’t wait to find a family to call my own, one that will love me as much as I’m ready to love them. Smokey is a male Shepherd mix with an estimated date of birth of 12/11/24. He weighs 23 lbs as of 5/10.
