My story

Petra von Penzlin is a stunning 2-3 year old long haired German Shepherd mix. Petra has soft, fluffy fur and soulful blue eyes. She’s a gentle and calm companion who is on the shy side initially and takes a moment to warm up. Then this sweet girl is affectionate and enjoys the quiet moments—lying beside you, soaking up affection and sharing her peaceful vibes. She's a perfect passenger in the car, snoozing in the back seat. Petra is housebroken and does well with other dogs, especially those who match her calm energy. And did you check out her cat video? In playgroups, she’s a polite greeter and explores the yard comfortably, though she doesn’t feel the need to actively socialize. She doesn’t mind more energetic dogs but prefers to keep her distance and do her own thing. She would do best in a peaceful home with a secure yard -- even in an apartment because she is so quiet -- where she can feel safe, loved, and continue to blossom. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
