My story

Apply to Adopt Me! Say hello to Tipper!  He is a sweet and very loving 6 lb. chihuahua mix who projects a big, sassy attitude when you first meet him. He was one of 10 small dogs who came to Lil Rascals when both of their elderly humans passed away unexpectedly. Tipper was understandably unsettled when he arrived at his foster home. He cried for two days and nights almost non-stop. He flinched, shrieked, growled and even threatened to bite (but never did) with almost every touch. Then something wonderful happened. Tipper started to trust his foster family! He stopped crying during the day. Then he stopped crying at night. He stopped flinching and growling. He joined his foster family on the sofa for TV time. He started asking for pets and snuggles. He really likes snuggles!  He discovered going for a walk on his leash is just about the best thing ever. He is ALWAYS ready to go for a walk. But his most favorite thing of all is sleeping next to his foster family at bedtime. He burrows in and doesn’t make a sound all night.  Tipper is estimated to be 10 years old. He is house trained and doesn’t have accidents indoors as long as he can go for a walk every couple of hours. Although a senior, Tipper moves like a much younger dog. Like many senior chihuahuas, he has a heart murmur.  He also has an enlarged heart for which he takes Vetmedin and his current dose costs less than $2 per day. He will be taking medication the rest of his life, but for now Tipper lets nothing hold him back.  Tipper’s ideal adopter is an adult home wanting a companion who will stick to them like Velcro. Sometimes Tipper forgets who is in charge and he will growl when asked to do something he doesn’t want to do.  And sometimes he will cry when he doesn’t get his way. Thus Tipper needs an adopter who is familiar with the quirks of the chihuahua breed.  Tipper gets along great with other small dogs, but after sharing his home with 9 other dogs for many years, he would really love to be someone’s one-and-only special baby. And maybe, just maybe, he could be an only dog so he gets all the love for himself.   If you have an all-adult home, live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, and think you have the perfect forever home for Tipper, we’d love to find out more about you. Please complete our adoption application and we’ll see if you are Tipper’s perfect match.   May 23, 2025, 6:31 pm
