My story

Lewis (formerly Mooney) – Back in Rescue & Looking for His Forever Home 🐾 Approx. 8 years old | Gentle Giant | Sweet & Affectionate 🐾 Lewis, affectionately known as Mooney during his first journey with us, has safely returned to rescue through no fault of his own. His former family loves him dearly, but is no longer able to care for him. Now around 8 years old, Lewis is a big, lovable boy with a calm, affectionate personality. He has been living with teenagers and has done well in the home. Lewis is typically great with other dogs, though he has shown some reactivity on walks around certain neighborhood dogs—something a confident and understanding adopter can help him work through. At his core, Lewis is passive, sweet-natured, and just wants to be close to his people. His Rescue Story: When Lewis first came to us years ago, he was in rough shape—severely underweight, suffering from mange and a serious skin infection. Thanks to love, vet care, and time, he healed beautifully. His coat grew back, he was neutered, and he showed us just how resilient and loving he truly is. He’s always been good with dogs of all sizes and is even cat-friendly. Because of past abuse, he can be shy with sudden movements, but his trust grows quickly with kindness. Lewis is a true cuddle buddy who just wants a cozy spot indoors and someone to love.
