My story

Manny arrived at ACCT Philly on May 10th after being found confined in a fenced yard near the Pennovation building. The officer who picked him up described him as “very loose and easy to handle”—Manny climbed right into their lap, clearly craving affection and connection. Since arriving, this friendly and playful boy has shown himself to be eager to engage with people and other dogs, and full of energy. Manny has a happy-go-lucky personality with a touch of gentle caution. He loves to be outside, takes treats gently, and shows interest in toys without resource guarding. Volunteers note that he’s a strong pup who can pull on leash when excited, but he listens well to guidance and enjoys affection. While he occasionally gets drooly when meeting new dogs, he’s demonstrated polite dog social behavior and has done well in playgroups. Though not overly cuddly or clingy, he responds to gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement beautifully. He’s been described as “goofy,” “very sweet,” and an all-around good boy who will thrive with a strong, loving family willing to help him blossom further. I opened the kennel door and he had mid to low tail wags. I showed him my leash and he did leash Dodge a few times, but then stood there and let me lasso him over the head. And then he hopped right out of his kennel. Leash: minimal pulling Handling: one out of his kennel man walked pretty well and leashed with minimal pulling. I offered him treats. He sniffed and turned away. And they already did a lot of sniffing. He saw another dog walk by and his tail went high and he raised his hair but didn’t bark or growl at the other dog. He was pretty aloof and kept his distance. He was interested in playing with toys but he took no possession of them. She had all handling, but wasn’t super comfortable with it and we just walk away. Going back to his kennel he did stop and needed some encouragement but once at his kennel he hopped right in. I gave him a treat and he took it gently. Toys: interested but took no possession Play: not interested Color: Blue 05/11/2025 Playgroup notes: Gentle/dainty, interested, vertical tail, drooling, avoidant at times. 05/10/2025 Removed stray from fenced dog yard at Pennovation building. Dog was very loose and easy to handle, very friendly, climbed in lap immediately. Pulls moderately on leash.
