Bando ACCT-A-219983 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Bando must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4TH at 10AM. Should Bando’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Bando arrived at ACCT Philly on May 10th after being found tied up outside the shelter. Despite his uncertain circumstances, Bando immediately showed us how sweet he is—described as “verryyy friendly” upon intake. He’s a big-hearted guy who’s eager to bond, especially through play and affection. Bando presents as a playful, affectionate, and energetic pup who may need a little guidance on his manners. While in his kennel, he can appear tense and reserved, but once outside, he becomes a loose, wiggly, and social dog who loves attention. Many of the notes from his daily walks refer to him as a “good boy.” He shows interest in toys—especially soft ones—and has taken possession of them in a calm, playful way. Bando is also very food motivated, which will help tremendously in continuing his training. He’s shown signs of housetraining, relieving himself promptly once outside. He’s been noted to be a bit jumpy and mouthy at times, typical of a young dog with enthusiasm to spare, so he would do best in a home where any children are over the age of 12. Bando has met other dogs at the shelter and done well, so please bring any resident dogs along for a meet! Due to his length of stay, Bando is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter. Per volunteer 5/20: Bando is a sweet and affectionate boy who loved to run in the play yard. He would chase after the ball but still needs to learn a bit about bringing the ball back. Per day trip 5/19: These are my photos with Brando and our Doggy Day trip. We went to a nature preserve and hiked for 2 -3 hrs then got a pup cup at a local ice cream place. He got a lot of interaction and interest when we visited Clark Park and a music festival. Through it all Brando was amazing! He kept up on the hike and was very patient in the car (mostly napped in the sun). He never barked and was gentle with the many, many people who wanted to pet him. He's great for long walks and being a pittie potatoes! I've attached a bunch of photos and I hope he gets adopted soon. Per volunteer 5/18: Bando attended the event on 5/18 as well and did great! He is a very wiggly, happy guy who thinks everyone is his new best friend. Bando brought along a toy to the event and even though he loved the toy he was willing to share it with another dog that attended. Bando is very dog friendly and had lots of fun playing with Praline, they became good friends. Bando can be mouthy but is easily redirected. He’s very food motivated and eager to learn new things. Despite being a young guy with energy to spare, Bando settles down well and laid down calmly during the less busy times of the event. Per volunteer 5/19: Bando was a great companion at the Star|Bolt event - he was easy to pull, did his business right away (seems housetrained!), hopped right up in the car, plunked down & snoozed while I drove, then hopped right out of the car when we arrived. He was a super polite player, helping both Praline & Carl get their play on while taking their cues and matching their energy. He loved all the people and was pretty chill - didn't flinch at the El going by overhead or any of the traffic in the neighborhood. When it was time to go, he hopped right back into the car, had a snooze, then hopped out and walked right back to his kennel, where his dinner was waiting. He hopped right in - no complaints. 12/10 - really great dog. Per staff 5/19: Pulls at first then is sweet. Per staff 5/16: I brought Bando in the office for a group of 5 volunteers. He was extremely gentle, greeted each volunteer, allowed all over petting, and leaned in for pets. He also sat nicely for a group photo! He did get overly excited at times and would lightly mouth and get jumpy. Per staff 5/14, playgroup: Loose, playful, good greetings, semi-steer, high tail wags. Per volunteer 5/16: Sweet, friendly, walk easy. Per volunteer 5/15: Loves pets. Per volunteer 5/14: Easily overstimulated. Per volunteer 5/13: Very friendly, loves pets. Scratched, barked, and tried to bite while putting him back in. Per staff 5/12: Everyone loves Bando's goofy self. I had 3 staff members today ranting about how much they love him. Lots of puppy energy Per volunteer 5/12: Kennel presentation: Brenda was sitting at the front of his kennel with a bit of a tense body language, he was hard staring but wasn’t growling or barking. I decided to go to the backside of his kennel to see if that would be better and he seemed looser on that side I was able to put my leash and lasso him from above with no issues. He then came out of his kennel and he did try jumping at the leash but then settled down and walked. Leash: minimal pulling/ moderate pulling Handling: in the yard, Bando was super loose and wiggly. He went to the bathroom right away, so I’d say he’s trying to stay housebroken. He can be a bit mouthy and jumpy. He wasn’t interested in treats as he would lick the treat, but not eat it. He would come over and sit and solicit pets but at times he would try and jump on you. He was interested in toys and to take possession of soft toys. He allowed all handling. He walked back into his kenn with no issues. Toys: interested and took possession Play: interested in play Color: experienced gold Per staff 5/11: Very food motivated, needed little restraint for vaccines and chip. MEDICAL: On 5/20, Bando was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. He tested positive for pneumovirus. As of 5/27, his URI signs were worsening, so he was prescribed enrofloxacin and his course of doxycycline was extended. He retested negative on 5/30. On 5/13, Bando was neutered. During his intake exam on 5/11, Bando was noted to be in good health although his eyes were red from stress. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
