My story

Welcome, Cain! Meet Cain—our newest handsome hunk in need of a fresh start! At just 10 months old, this big, blocky low-rider (all 73 lbs of him!) found himself homeless after being surrendered to our shelter partner, Northern Ocean Animal Facility in Jackson, NJ. With no leash skills, no manners, and zero basic commands—not to mention some food guarding behavior—Cain was in serious jeopardy. But we saw the potential behind those soulful eyes and knew he deserved a second chance. Thanks to our incredible supporters, Cain is now enrolled in a board and train program with our trusted trainer Lauraine at Bucks Dog Training of Central New Jersey. This is a huge opportunity for Cain to learn the skills he needs to thrive in a home—and an amazing chance for his future foster or adopter to welcome a fully trained pup! Cain gave us a scare upon arrival—he had a double ear infection and belly issues and needed immediate vet care. We’re so grateful to our founder Donna and shelter volunteer Kathleen for rushing him to the vet, and a massive thank you to Lauren and Howard for sponsoring his training—it’s support like this that changes lives! Cain still needs to be dog-tested, and when his training is complete, he’ll be looking for a foster or forever home. If you’re interested in giving Cain the loving home he’s working so hard for, please apply at pittiesandpals.com. Cain is proof that with the right support, every dog can shine.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cain, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
